As the Chief Human Resources Officer for MGM Resorts International, I was responsible for leading culture transformation and employee engagement initiatives for the company’s 88,000 employees worldwide with an exceptional team of HR leaders. As a key member of the senior leadership team, I worked in partnership with the C-Suite on a broad range of company-wide strategies in both talent, inclusion, and overall business improvement, including a restructuring and role definition initiative resulting in $100M savings in payroll expense. My role as CHRO included engagement with our Board of Directors on company talent and culture initiatives and more specifically with the Nom/Gov Committee on c-suite succession planning; the Compensation Committee on executive compensation and equity programs; and the CSR Committee on diversity initiatives. During my tenure, my team and I led a full transformation of the Human Resources function including modernizing archaic HR systems and moving all applications into the cloud to support a mobile and diverse workforce. In addition, we led the development and execution of a full talent management system including designing and launching the company’s first ever performance review, reward and recognition philosophy, performance-based management incentive plan, talent review, and succession planning processes including alignment of executive compensation and equity awards to performance metrics. I was most proud of the partnership with the Chief Marketing Officer and the marketing team, which placed HR squarely at the center of business strategy where the HR team aligned the company’s culture and brand as part of a multi-year culture and brand transformation initiative. Center to the launch of this initiative was a leadership development program that created a more inclusive and engaging workplace by focusing on developing specific behaviors in all leaders of people that strengthened and advanced the company's culture.
