I analyze samples and interpret results in a wide variety of analytical methods including ELISA assays, enzyme assays, wet chemistry, dough rheology, bake methods, and experimental milling. I oversaw the youth ministry for one campus of a multi-site church. I executed bi-weekly youth gatherings (including leading worship, preaching, and overseeing small groups), recruited, trained, and directed volunteers, communicated regularly with parents, and managed the yearly budget. I collaborated with other ministries inside and outside of the church, organized quarterly community connection events, and oversaw various volunteer opportunities for students and families.

Used Western blot and confocal microscopy to study mitochondrial dysfunction in mammalian breast tissue for the purpose of gaining a greater understanding of breast cancer. Participated in group discussions of published literature, learning to accurately interpret and assess the validity of other scientists’ experiments.

Synthesized novel gold (III) complexes and their ligand precursors using Schlenk line and glove box techniques, replicating and expanding upon lab procedures from published experimental protocols and other student researcher’s laboratory notebooks. Purified these gold complexes and ligand precursors and performed H NMR spectroscopy to analyze the obtained products.

Expanded biochemical laboratory skills by implementing a lactate dehydrogenase cytotoxicity assay. Learned how to develop effective and cost-efficient methods for accomplishing goals. Grew, isolated, and identified multiple strains of myxobacteria while operating a laminar flow hood, an autoclave, and an incubator shaker.

Prepared sandwiches, developed communication and people skills by recording customer orders, packaged delivery items, sliced meats and cheeses, and maintained the cleanliness of the food preparation and customer areas daily. Learned how to complete tasks quickly without sacrificing quality and gained experience working on a team. I also had this job during the summer of 2013.
