Interface Analyst

I am currently working as an Interface Analyst on the Applications team at CHA. I am responsible for build, testing, error resolution, maintenance and support of nearly 90 interfaces between the two main HIS, Epic and Meditech as well as many ancillary applications. Our interfaces currently utilize the Rhapsody integration engine (migrated from SeeBeyond/EGate (Monk)).I work as a project manager and integration lead on new interface implementations as well as major system upgrades and service release changes. My role requires me to collaborate with both IT professionals and hospital staff on these projects to create an interface and workflow that will ensure ease of use for hospital staff and preserve the integrity and security of the patient data.My team responsibilities include mentoring new/junior team members, develop competencies and training, as well as maintaining an in-house Interface Wiki page as a support resource. I also participate in the afterhours on-call rotation for the Interface team.

Healing Class/Role Leader

Virtual Space

Although it was only an entertainment pass time, I learned a lot of real life management skills in my role as a Healing Class Leader for a MMORPG gaming guild in the video game World of Warcraft by Blizzard Entertainment. As a leader I was required to reviewed recruitment applications and interview potential players to fill open roles for our video gaming team. I researched encounter (aka "Raid") mechanics and strategies, developed strategies that would work to our team's strengths, managed the healing class team schedules and assignments, as well as directed real time response calls during encounters via VoIP software. In addition I would review combat log statistics and character profiles, and advised team players on character build and improvement. I was a contributing member on Item Reward (aka "Loot") Council, where I helped raid leaders decide on how to distribute encounter rewards to team members as character upgrades in order to give the largest benefit to the team as a whole, and I acted as a conflict manager (mediator) between players when necessary.

Dec 2004 - Jun 2013

Application Analyst

Partners Healthcare

I originally joined Partners LMR Implementation team. The implementation of this software was part of an early phase Meaningful Use initiative. It provided physicians who were either partnered with the North Shore hospitals or members of the physicians' organization with a simple integrated EMR for their offices.I worked with several clients implementing the Partners LMR software, designing templates, developing new workflows, and training staff how to use the application. After a year I joined The Compass project as an analyst with the Conversion Team. We used HL7, SQL and other query and scripting languages to convert hospital MPIs into the new Soarian Financials suite of applications.I was responsible for data analysis and data "scrubbing" of all extracts from the hospitals as well as message design for the batch HL7 upload into the new software database.

Apr 2007 - Jan 2011

Application Analyst

I started my IT career with CHA as a contracted employee at their IT Helpdesk. I responded to calls from hospital staff to the call center on a wide variety of problems including Microsoft products, the HIS Meditech and printer issues. I also managed call logs and produced reports on metrics for management. As a senior member of the team, I was responsible for speaking at the New Manager Orientation for the hospital. I explained the role of the Helpdesk, how to reach support after hours as well as demonstrated the process of requesting hardware, software or employee access through our online application. After two years at the Helpdesk I was promoted to an education role as a Physician Liaison where I worked with physicians on everything from basic computer skills to assisting in developing workflows that would allow the maximum benefit by using the electronic medical record (EMR). The Physician Liaison role evolved into an Application Analyst position where I supported the Meditech EMR, Order Entry, and Imaging and Therapeutic Services applications. I was responsible for build, enhancement, testing and support of these applications and the departments that utilized them. During my time as an Application Analyst I was also responsible for implementing other ancillary applications, including a web based EMR portal, the McKesson PACS and the VR system Powerscribe. These ancillary systems were all integrated with our current HIS Meditech. With my implementation experience I was promoted to the Integration team where I worked with HL7 messaging and the new hospital Ambulatory EHR, Epic.

Jun 1999 - Apr 2007

Medical Technologist

I worked in Children's Core Laboratory in the Chemistry, Hematology and Special Chemistries areas. After about six months I was given the assignment of Assistant Key Operator of Hitachi analyzers. As a key operator, I was responsible for the maintenance, support, and quality control of the three Hitachi chemistry analyzers. I was also involved in several laboratory projects and product studies while employed as a Medical Technologist at Children's, including leading the Y2K upgrade of all laboratory computerized analyzer systems. While working as the Y2K team lead I was able to ensure the complete inventory of laboratory analyzer software was up to date and tested. I was able to work with several of the vendors to supply hardware and software upgrades where needed at low or no additional cost to the hospital.
