As a graduate research assistant in the Modeling Extreme Weather and Climate (MEWAC) Lab at Penn State, I have applied quantitative research methods using MATLAB and Python. My research has focused on exploring large-scale meteorological patterns associated with extratropical cyclones and freezing rain events as part of the Integrated Coastal Modeling (ICoM) Project. This work has resulted in peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations, demonstrating my ability to both analyze data and effectively communicate findings.

During my time as a Masters student at the University of Cape Town, I served as the head teaching assistant for both an undergraduate physical environment class and an atmospheric science class. In this role, I managed logistics for weekly lab sessions, which included creating and presenting crucial lab materials, offering assignment feedback, and maintaining a gradebook for over 100 undergraduate students.Additionally, in my research, I leveraged Fortran to develop a higher-resolution version of the SPEEDY climate model and conducted climate simulations to explore the relationships between different El Niño Southern Oscillation patterns and drought in southern Africa. I visualized these findings using Ferret and R, ultimately synthesizing the analysis into a peer-reviewed publication and conference proceedings.
