My experience centers around the lives of my 4 children. I spent 13 years as an at-home-mom. Once my children were enrolled in school, I began volunteering on a regular basis. Much of my experience stems from those hours as a volunteer.I realized with the help of my kids teachers that I had been in training to substitute teach. Most days I spent at least 8 hours at the elementary school subbing. I believe these hours helped as a sort of OJT for elementary education positions. Though I am not a certified teacher, I bring strong assets to the table from my years of experience serving beside some of the best educators, Principals and support staff in the Commonweath of Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee. in 2019 I was certified through TN DIDD and began working for the Access Program as a pre-employment transition specialist working with students ages ranging from 14-22. It is an amazing opportunity to instruct students in the classroom on the skills they need to go into the workforce one day.
