I started Organic Headshots in 2005 when I saw that professional headshots weren’t just for Hollywood actors anymore. The rise of LinkedIn and using social media for career advancement meant that every professional had to create and control their personal brand online in order to succeed. That meant quality, accessible, professional, and affordable headshots.It’s been SO rewarding to grow my studio from being a solo entrepreneur to a small business owner with 8 photographers, 10 makeup artists, an operations manager and an assistant and 400+ clients in the Chicago area and beyond. We’ve taken photos from small organizations and individuals just starting out, to global firms and sports organizations including the NBA. Becoming a certified woman-owned business (WBE, WOSB, and BEP in the state of IL) has also been an honor and highlight of my career.The majority of my clients include professionals looking for the perfect headshot to use for press releases, publications, LinkedIn profile photos, websites, book jackets, ad campaigns, and other marketing materials. We evaluate each person's individual needs to create a headshot that best represents who they are and their line of business, so that each photo and experience is unique. I served as the producer of marketing and distribution for the feature documentary film, "Revenge of the Electric Car," made by the same filmmakers as the 2006 successful film, "Who Killed the Electric Car?" In this role, I developed and executed a marketing plan for the film and negotiated all distribution contracts and scheduled release windows for theatrical, VOD, streaming, DVD, and educational.I was also the direct contact managing our PR team and produced the panel discussion at the film's premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, which included celebrity panelists, and was filmed as a special feature for the DVD release.It was such a rewarding experience to combine my filmmaking background with my marketing talents to find ways for this important documentary film to reach a wider audience.
