Michelle is a degree-qualified Myotherapist, completing a Bachelor of Health Science in Clinical Myotherapy (with Distinction), the highest qualification in the Myotherapy field. What does this mean, you ask? Well, it means that I am well informed with evidence-based practice, which means understanding the most effective treatment strategies for most musculoskeletal conditions that cause pain or dysfunction. It also means that I am very particular with assessment of the painful area as I like to take baselines of where my patients are at each session, so I can track your improvements over time. This is really important to constantly check that the treatment is having the desired effect, and if not, we can change strategy. Everyone is unique and responds differently to treatment, therefore my treatment strategies are also unique to the individual and constantly tweaked to fit their needs.I help people with acute injuries as well as those that have persistent/chronic pain due to specific injury/trauma, natural degeneration, poor posture or pain that seemingly comes out of the blue.I have a keen interest in low back pain due to its high prevalence in the community. Therefore, I did extra study and completed Robin McKenzie’s Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) for the Low Back region. This method is a fantastic way of assessing and treating people with sciatic pain. It empowers patients to take control of their pain with simple movements to relieve symptoms over time, and in many cases eradicate pain completely.Treatment tools I may use during your session:• Joint mobilisations• Myofascial Dry Needling• Trigger Point Therapy • Myofascial Cupping• Soft tissue massage• Exercise rehabilitation• Education around pain - do you need to be scared of it? • Compassion, emapathy... and a hug if you need it! :)Current Certifications & Associations: - First Aid Level 2 & CPR - Working With Children's Check - Registered member of Myotherapy Association Australia (MAA)
