I lifeguard the physical education and adapted physical activity classes.

I am in charge of all the lifeguards as well as managing the pool. I am responsible for teaching swim lessons, lifeguarding, checking chlorine levels, and scheduling.

I was a lifeguard at the Butler YMCA on the weekends and taught swim lessons to children ages Pre K - 5th grade. I also promoted the four character traits which include responsibility, honesty, caring and respect.

Building on the foundations of the First-Year Experience Program (FYRST) at Slippery Rock University, this proposal addresses the addition of a peer leadership component to the FYRST seminar course. Designed as a pilot project to initially serve approximately 10 – 15 FYRST seminar sections, the purpose of the FYRST Peer Leader Program is two-fold. One, peer leaders will impact first year students positively, serving as role models, offering suggestions, providing support and encouragement, promoting self-responsibility and self-direction. Two, peer leadership offers an invaluable learning experience to peer leaders, themselves, by providing opportunities for engaging in meaningful work, gaining important leadership skills, learning to take responsibility, increasing contact with faculty members, and gaining a sense of self-worth.

I volunteered at the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center as a Fitness Mentor. I worked with students in 9th-12th grade. I motivated students to become physically active by designing developmentally appropriate fitness games and activities.

For the summer I supervised a playground in my hometown and designed new games and activities for the kids to participate in. The main focus was to allow the kids to be physically active.
