My unique combination of paralegal studies and 25 years of laboratory experience and Union Representative work has developed a skill set directly relevant to the Paralegal role. As a Union Shop Steward, I have honed my analytical, communication, and organizational skills, which are essential for success in a legal environment. In both positions, I have maintained strict adherence to safety and regulatory protocols, worked both independently and as part of a team, and have gained experience in customer service, regulatory compliance, and patient/company/chemical safety ensures that I am committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in the legal profession.Moreover, my experience as a Union Shop Steward has allowed me to develop skills that directly translate to the Paralegal role, such as but not limited to conducting research on a variety of topics related to labor laws, employment contracts, collective bargaining agreements, workplace safety regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations. In this role, I have conducted research codes and ordinances, and provided support for disciplinary hearings. Similarly, in the Paralegal role, I would be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and providing support for client meetings and court proceedings. As a Shop Steward, I also conduct research on specific grievances filed by union members, gather relevant documentation and evidence, and present their findings to management or arbitration panels. With my ability I also research industry trends and best practices, as well as the practices of other companies in the same industry, to help inform their negotiations and advocacy on behalf of union members.Furthermore, both Union Shop Stewards and Paralegals require strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advocate for their clients. They must be able to communicate with clients, legal professionals, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. In both roles, attention to detail and organization are critical, as mistakes can have significant consequences.Overall, my unique combination of laboratory, Union Representative, and paralegal studies experience has equipped me with a diverse skill set that is directly relevant to the Paralegal role. By combining skills and duties that are similar in Senior Lead Lab Assistants, Paralegals, and Shop Stewards, I am able to bring a unique perspective and level of expertise to the legal profession that is unmatched. I am confident that my skills and experience make me a valuable asset to any legal team.
