Speech Language Pathologist
CurrentSchool-based speech-language pathologist providing direct speech & language services to students in 5th through 12th grade in a public school setting. Experience working with a variety of disabilities including speech and language impairments, social skills, fluency disorders, alternative & augmentative communication, and multiple disabilities. Provide both push-in and pullout services to students and collaborate regularly with other special education staff to promote carryover of skills into the curriculum. Adapted to providing services via teletherapy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Experience assessing students using a variety of standardized and dynamic assessments and writing comprehensive evaluation reports for initial and triennial ETRs. Responsible for writing measurable and functional goals for annual IEPs and implementing them in therapy sessions. Leading the team of district speech-language pathologists by coordinating meetings, communicating pertinent information to the speech therapist group, and acting as a resource/mentor to other speech-language pathologists in the district. Provided supervision to student teachers from local universities for their school-based externship in an educational setting. Co-created a schoolwide plant program to provide opportunities for students to practice functional, vocational, communication, and social skills in the school environment.
