Hello, my name is Michelle Skalland. I am a multi-racial Honduran-Mexican American, cisgender, disabled, neurodivergent, queer woman living with Hashimoto's and PTSD (and more), and have survived childhood adversities, including sexual abuse. I continue to heal from my trauma, learning to trust the wisdom my body holds, and I am grateful for all opportunities I have being in community with folks. Over the years, I have gained the confidence and skills to advocate for myself and others, including leaving spaces and relationships that no longer align with me. As a former Statistician, I developed a strong foundation in data analysis, project management, and team collaboration. I enjoy looking at data from many different angles and anticipating what could go wrong in order to proactively solve problems. My love for collaborating with others and genuine interest in understanding how we all fit together on a team, in addition to my experiences as a parent, has helped me to be more empathic and supportive of my colleagues, strengthening my communication and interpersonal skills. While I miss being a Statistician, I am also ready to take a different path exploring a career path in Data Management.I would love to be part of an organization that is doing work to support communities that have been underserved and marginalized. I want to be able to intersect my background in data and science with my lived experience and passion for equity to bring positive change to the workplace and community.
