My primary responsibilities were the basic management of the lab while working on a project using the yeast two-hybrid screening system with separate bait and prey plasmids to pull out novel genes that might be involved in ovarian cancer. The project was designed to screen for proteins interacting with Mcl-1. This lead to the discovery of a novel gene called Bcl-2 related ovarian killer (BOK).

.Assisted laboratory technician researching varying color patterns in transgenic petunia plants. Studied effects of suppression, co-expression, and dominance. Completed a side project isolating the HF1 gene in petunia DNA.
