I am honoured to be appointed the first Canadian Geographic Photographer-in-Residence, where I have the privilege of utilizing my passion for photography to raise awareness of the beauty and fragility of Canada's North. Recently, on June 29, 2022, I was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada, one of Canada's highest honors, recognizing my contributions as a photographer, philanthropist, and advocate.With over 35 years of experience, I have dedicated myself to telling stories through the lens of my camera. Project North’s goal is to galvanize Canadians from coast to coast to look North, become more aware, and lend a hand to support children – our country’s greatest resources.

Michelle Valberg's association with the Royal Canadian Geographic Society (RCGS) as a Fellow further solidifies her status as one of Canada's premier wildlife and nature photographers.
