Michiel advises on and litigates in the real estate area with a focus on the sale and purchase of commercial real estate and commercial leasing law. His clients are large, (international) real estate investors (linked to banks or insurance companies), project developers, and real-estate consultants.Michiel has an in-house and outside counsel track record of managing commercial deals, transactions and disputes in the Netherlands. Prior to joining Lexence, he was active as specialized real estate legal counsel at Unibail-Rodamco, world's largest real estate investor, where he gained experience in various in-house legal advisory roles and learned the real estate business from the inside. Prior to joining Unibail-Rodamco, Michiel was active as specialized real estate lawyer (admitted to the Dutch bar) in the Amsterdam boutique law firm Van Mens & Wisselink. He then acquired and managed a national and international client base, including various banks, trained junior team members, and headed the lease law department. Michiel was first admitted to the Dutch Bar in 2002.
