Michiel Raats (1979) is an architect and works as a project manager and senior designer at Generation.Energy and PosadMaxwan. I believe architectural and urban design can perform a crucial role in connecting, discussing, experimenting and showcasing todays manifold opportunities for the (nearby) future. My work focusses on creating momentum for those opportunities to become tangible. I initiate and manage projects, engage stakeholders and team members and deliver results with the potential to be a catalyst for a next step.Before joining Posad (nowadays PosadMaxwan)I worked for Het Nieuwe Instituut and the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) and a wide range of architectural offices, including OKRA landscape architects and Maxwan architects + urbanists, working on spatial research, architectural design and urban planning.Over the past years I was regularly invited as lecturer and tutor for both lecture series and design studios at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design, and in the past I also taught at the Fontys Academy for Architecture and Urban Design in Tilburg. Every now and then I serve as critic for design studios at several schools of architecture.
