As an experienced administrator, my leadership style and problem solving skills have helped me help staff and students be more successful. Through good communication skills and tenacity, our Student Success team helps professional staff, parents and students make changes and plans for improved outcomes. When you have a shared vision of the learner as capable and wanting more, it is a satisfying process to develop a plan for ongoing support, knowing the results will usually be positive.My personal energetic style helps me always seek ways to be more involved in the life of our school community and enhance its status as first class in the community. Over the past 3 years alone, I have helped with grade 8 transition and the strategies for retaining feeder school students which has fostered school population growth. Over the past 18 months I have led the development of a Robotics Program for our school and during 2018-2019 this will be bigger as we expand our team membership (staff, student, volunteer and parent) and competition schedule (monthly starting in November). Finally, we will drive this innovation down into grades 7 and 8 of school that send students to our high school by involving our students in mentoring younger learners.Over the past 24 months I have led the creation of additional teams, by coaching them, for grade 9 students who may not have an opportunity to participate in a co-curricular activity. Student engagement is very important and sometimes leadership by doing with a plan for succession may be the only option.
