Auxiliary Fire-fighter on Magnetic Island - My contribution to the community in which I live. Duties include wildfire and structural fire suppression, responding to road accidents, medical assistance for QAS, search and rescue, educating the community on fire safety. We are constantly updating our skills in all facets of technical rescue and fire suppression.

Mt Carlton

I have been appointed captain of the Mt Carlton Emergency Response Team, which utilizes my experience gained with the QFRS. With the completion of Cert III Mines Rescue, we are now concentrating on setting up scenarios based on all facets of our training, and focused on the inherent risks of a remote mine operation. Our key focus is to improve the functionality of the team, and streamline response time by constantly improving on our inefficiencies. The team consists of 8 dedicated members, some of which, including myself, are also active members of the Queensland Fire & Rescue Service (QFRS), which is a great resource for aiding the professional development of the team.

Mt Carlton

My position as field supervisor involves coordinating drilling, geo-chemical & geophysical work programs as well as the supervision & training of field assistants. I have been involved with exploration from a green-fields project through to a developed mine site, I was made responsible for the development of our new core logging and storage facility at Mt Carlton. This involved design of the facility, planning the project as well as taking on the role of project manager, and coordinating earthworks construction crews and other associated trades. I have a keen interest, along with formal training in GIS (MapInfo) and use these skills to help design geo-chemical surveys and field maps. I am also coherent in developing procedures relevant to exploration activities, as well as safety & emergency management plans related to remote area work.
