Languages consultant and travel writer. My previous career in educational and factual broadcasting at the BBC included establishing the BBC’s languages website and heading up its languages output. Over the past three years I have completed three books: The Book of Languages (Franklin Watts) as well as The Great Canal Gamble and Bear Mountain (Guardian Shorts). I'm now working on Talking the Talk,( Spanish), a guide to conversational Spanish for BBC Active, Pearson Education. I have extensive media experience in the areas of presentation, editing, production,scriptwriting, location recording and research. My particular expertise is in making language learning successful and enjoyable via interactive online materials such as BAFTA-winning “Mi Vida Loca” and schemes such as blended learning. Previously, I worked as a language teacher in MFL and EFL, and speak French, Spanish and Italian. I have written numerous travel articles for The Independent, with a particular focus on France, Spain, South America and countries of the former Yugoslavia.
