I AIM TO SERVE OTHERS SO THEY CAN PURSUE THEIR BEST GAMEI played many sports growing up, but I gravitated towards soccer, or football as it’s called around the world! There was something about the international appeal of the “World’s Game”; the smell of fresh cut grass, the need for individual skill and fitness but also the reliance on teamwork to solve problems and look for angles and space to move the ball up the field and into the back of the net.Soccer is a 90-minute game split into two 45-minute halves, but with subjective time added on at the end by the referee. As Johan Cruyff puts it, “Soccer is simple, but it is difficult to play simple.” My philosophy as a leader and coach is to create an environment for players to simplify the game so that every 45-minute half played they have a blank canvass to pursue their personal best. Do that, and the score will take care of itself!Soccer, like life, takes teamwork. My 25-years of naval service has provided me unique experiences of leading groups of people all over the world from diverse and wide-ranging backgrounds. I pride myself on being a values-driven leader with a commitment to honesty, integrity, character, courage, humility, trust, and more about pleasing God than man. At the end of the day, it’s not about me. It’s about the organization and people. My family gave me a Servant Leadership plaque that I keep on my desk with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi that sums up my approach nicely: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” • Proven Leader and Skilled Logistician• Optimizes Efficiency for Process Streamlining • Adapts Quickly and Masters New Concepts• Team Builder and Gifted Communicator• Constant Learner and Reader• Enthusiastic Focus on the Warfighting Customer• Fosters a Culture of Collaboration and Inclusiveness• Seeks to be a Mentor and Protégé• Strong Believer in Action and Accountability

Division Chief | J44 Logistics Sustainment And IntegrationUssocom Jul 2017 - Jun 2020Tampa, Fl, UsI chose to serve at US Special Operations Command to gain better insight and understanding into how a 4-star headquarters sets conditions and advocates for its subordinate commands. Being exposed to senior executives and their decision making that impacts an enterprise consisting of roughly 70,000 people around the globe with a $13B budget was an extremely educational experience. I gained insight into strategic thought processes, vision, and how to lead up, down, and across the entire US whole of government to support our customers, the SOF operators on the ground. I felt like I earned the equivalent to a PhD in organizational culture and strategic planning along the way! -
Navy Element CommanderUssocom Apr 2019 - Apr 2020Tampa, Fl, UsIt was truly an honor to serve as the senior naval officer serving the 200+ sailors stationed at US Special Operations Command! Not only did I get to advise USSOCOM's senior leadership on Navy matters but I was able to advocate for our sailors and ensure they were afforded the resources and accolades they deserved. -
Commanding Officer, Naval Special Warfare Group Two Logistics And Support Unit (Logsu-2) Skipper # 8Naval Special Warfare - U.S. Navy Seal Teams Jun 2015 - Jul 2017Coronado, Ca, UsThere is nothing like command. For me, command is the foundation upon which our Navy rests and authority, responsibility, and accountability are the three essential principles at the heart of command. Commanding LOGSU-2 and its 450+ sailors was the highlight of my career and the honor of a lifetime. It was something I set my sights on in 2002 as a lieutenant and I enjoyed every day of command, the highs and the lows. I enjoyed shaping the culture, coaching and mentoring my sailors as they professionally conducted our business of supporting east coast SEAL Teams. This job was the one I was most ready for, the one the Navy had been preparing me for since commissioning. But it was the personal relationships and challenges that we overcame together that made it a memorable experience and me a better leader. -
Logistics Plans, Policy And Operations (N41), United States Naval Special Warfare CommandNaval Special Warfare - U.S. Navy Seal Teams Jun 2012 - Apr 2015Coronado, Ca, UsI jumped at the chance to join NSW’s headquarters, led by a two-star admiral, overseeing the 9,000+ person enterprise. I was in charge of NSW’s supply chain management policies and audit inspections. I learned the value of setting and maintaining organizational standards which eventually served me well when in command of LOGSU-2 and beyond. -

As NAVSUP GLS Operations Officer, responsible for monitoring and supporting: Navy Fleet waterfront and deployed support performance; NAVSUP FLC operations including contracting, fuels, global logistics services, hazardous material management, household goods movement support, integrated logistics support, material management, postal, regional transportation, warehousing, logistics operations, and ammunition; and providing base supply support for Navy installations worldwide during real world and exercise events. -

Supply Officer | Uss Dubuque (Lpd-8)Us Navy Mar 2004 - Feb 2006Washington, Dc, UsSupply Officer on USS Dubuque (LPD-8), an Austin-class amphibious transport dock. She maintains roughly ~400 embarked crewmembers and can deploy up to 900 Marines and their associated equipment. She embarks, transports, and lands elements of a landing force for expeditionary warfare missions. Amphibious transport docks perform the mission of amphibious transports, amphibious cargo ships by incorporating both a flight deck and a well deck that can be ballasted and deballasted to support landing craft or amphibious vehicles. USS Dubuque is named after Dubuque, Iowa on the Mississippi River. The second ship to bear the name, USS Dubuque was commissioned on 1 September 1967 at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was de-commissioned in 2012 in San Diego, CA.Serving as the Dubuque's Supply Officer allowed to me to grow and hone my leadership skills by leading ~100 sailors, the largest of my career at that point. We spent 10 months in a civilian shipyard completely overhauling the ship from bow to stern while maintaining ownership over the process. I learned how to build unit cohesion and cultivate internal and external relationships in order to provide the best services to the sailors of Dubuque. -
Supply Officer (N4) | Naval Special Warfare Unit ThreeNaval Special Warfare - U.S. Navy Seal Teams Apr 2002 - Dec 2003Coronado, Ca, UsNaval Special Warfare Unit THREE (NSWU-3), located in Manama, Bahrain, provides command and control and support for all Naval Special Warfare forces deployed to US Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility. The N4 Supply Officer duties include overseeing all logistics support functions to include financial accountability, supply chain management, purchase card programs, and facilities. The N4 also interfaced with various NSW Groups, 5th Fleet and Joint Special Operations Central staffs to ensure all forward deployed NSW members are ready to support CENTCOM's Geographic Combatant Commander requirements. This was my first time living overseas in a foreign country away from family, friends, and the comforts of the United States. And it was my first experience supporting the war effort in a high-pressure and high-performing environment. The margins for error were slim and the stakes high. I learned to draw upon senior officers and enlisted experience so I could gather the facts, make decisions quickly, and then adjust when things didn’t go according to plan. I learned to get comfortable in uncomfortable situations and to lead in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous circumstances. -
Sponsor Relations Manager And Track OperationsRichard Petty Motorsports Jun 2000 - Aug 2001Statesville, North Carolina, UsIn 1982 my family moved from Colorado to North Carolina and consider these my formative years as a person and an athlete. And I was also introduced to the world of NASCAR. My dad was in the oil business and he used NASCAR to develop relationships and sell oil. “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday!” When I travelled with him I soaked up the sights, sounds, and smells of auto racing. The energy and speed had a profound effect on me and helped shape my pursuit of a naval aviation career. When I couldn’t fly anymore and my four-year commitment to the Navy was over, I reverted my attention back to NASCAR. I was fortunate to be given an opportunity with Richard Petty’s Motorsports. I was introduced to all facets of the racing industry to include marketing, operations, finance, sales, and sponsor relations. The opportunity afforded me memorable moments as the King’s public relations manager for a week and serving as a driving instructor at many tracks around the United States! But, the attack on the USS Cole in 2000, followed by 9/11, served as seminal moments in my life. I found that I missed the Navy, specifically the opportunity to lead, the global nature of the national security mission, and the people who serve. So, I put my dreams of a career in the racing industry on hold and put my faith in God as I applied to return to the Navy on full-time active duty. God didn’t disappoint as I have been on an unbelievable journey with the Navy Supply Corps and Naval Special Warfare ever since. -
Division Officer | Uss Dewert (Ffg-45)Us Navy Jun 1998 - Jun 2000Washington, Dc, UsThis was my first exposure to leading a small group of 10 sailors and understanding it’s not about me. For the first time in my life my performance was judged mainly on how my sailors performed. This did not come easy and took growing pains to fully discover. I also received a crash-course in the power of leadership, both positive and negative, within an organization. I saw a ship, manned essentially by the same crew, go from WORST to FIRST… all through the power of positive leadership! -
Student Naval AviatorUs Navy Jul 1996 - Nov 1997Washington, Dc, UsI learned to fly but sometimes failing is the best thing for development in various areas of one's life! You only fail if you give up. Fail forward and learn from it...
