Portrait Studio & Event Photographer, "Mickey Strand Photography" in San Diego. I continue to teach classes & work with one-on-one students. I also build/Maintain websites, run blogs, and try to maintain my personal photo projects. I think I work harder after Military retirement than while I was on Active Duty.I am also an instructor and course manager for ACME Educational in LA with Mr. Vincent Versace. We teach photographers, how to see & think differently then they are used to seeing. Once you see it then you can work to achieve it...More about me:I am a Retired Navy Combat Camera Photographer, My last assignment was as the LCPO - Manager of 51 enlisted Combat Camera Unit photographers. Duties including all business practices, purchasing, personnel management, project management, life cycle planning etc...I was a Navy Photographer for 24 years. I worked in jobs from Lab tech to Combat Camera and was selected to be an instructor at the DoD Information School, my career covered the gambit. I really was grateful for all of my Navy adventures. made me the shooter and manager I am today.I have been an Instructor at the following schools:Howard County Community College, MD. Various subjects surrounding the Digital Media field.Anne Arundel Community College, MD. Various subjects surrounding the Digital Media field.Pixel Boot Camp - Digital asset management and workflow specialist.Maine Media College and workshops - Rockport MaineMadeline Island school of the arts - Wisconsin

I run my own studio and event photography business, "Mickey Strand Photography" here in San Diego along with teaching classes & personal students. Big personal projects have taken over my life. My WW2 Veterans Portrait Series has consumed me for the last 4 years with a museum show now on exhibit at Palm Beach Photo Center. I also hung another "Beyond the Cut" - Biker Portrait Series for December at Nelsons Photo here in SD my 3rd year being asked back. I think I work harder after Military retirement than while I was Active Duty.

CurrentI primarily provide online instruction for the Adobe Photoshop application. I teach Photoshop for Photographers I and II, a two-week, eight-session, two-hour-per-session online class. We are adding a third class next year. I will also offer a shooting workshop next year in Maine at the campus, centered around the Lighthouses: landscape and the Lighthouse's.
