Royal SunAlliance insurance company formerly National Vulcan Engineering Insurance.CompEx Certified Electrical Engineer undertaking inspection and test to major electrical installations operating within hazardous area environments. Reporting and testing in accordance with the requirements of BSEN60079 and BS7671. Inspection and tests of electrical installations operating within commercial environments. Investigate claims for assisting with insurance related business. Upon completion of inspections reports are generated for presentation to the client.I have been in post for 25 years and my past duties have also included undertaking statutory inspections to passenger lifts for ensuring compliance with LOLR requirements. Hazardous area workloads have now required that I leave the machinery discipline and am now primarily operating within the electrical discipline only.My position is home based which demonstrates a requirement for a high degree of motivation as well as good organisational skills. I have very good interpersonal skills which are required to manage the client’s expectations of our inspection processes. Current clients include all the major oil companies operating within the UK.I am also an IT mentor for our team where I assist new starters on setting up and understanding our IT infrastructure. I also deliver training as and when required both with IT services and to Surveyors seeking CompEx certification and relevant experience required before going live.In November 2015 RSA disposed of their engineering inspection business into a new company called British Engineering Services.

To provide maintenance and repair to the fabric of the buildings and to production machinery including cnc mills/lathes etc.
London Area
Maintaining and repair of sorting equipment at PO buildings. Also involved with the electrical installation associated with the new MLO office at Hemel Hempstead and Bedford. On handover I was part of a small team at HH responsible for the commissioning and testing of the then new digital coding desks and ASM,s.

Maintenance electrician maintaining production lines and equipment feeding into the tracks. Automated spray paint shops employing early ladder logic was also introduced. occassionally we would also maintain services and heating equipment associated with the fabric of the buildings.

I was appointed as a trainee consultant upon entry with this company. I participated with the compilation of installation drawings for architects approval which included lighting designs for various commercial projects.Projects were dispersed across electrical, heat and vent and public health engineers with regard to completing site drawings. Upon completion we would overlay drawings which would result in further changes/modifications as a result of elec/mechanical services competing for the same installation areas. Architects would also further complicate issues with amendments/alterations at the 11th hour.New projects required liaison with various supply authority’s as loads would have to be assessed. The most interesting project I was involved with was at the House of Lords for the provision of a bullet proof screen to segregate a viewing gallery from the central chamber. This involved working with the then PSA who constructed a detailed model in order to study light refraction from the screen throughout various times of the year which involved plotting solar positions with data supplied from the Building Research Laboratory.More mundane tasks included proof reading invitations to tender, and analysing tender documents received. Training was supplemented with day release at College.Financial reasons (low salary) regrettably resulted in my resignation from the Company. However I consider that my time here was well spent .
St Albans And Central London
Received formal apprenticeship in electrical installation work. Training received included experience within all aspects of installation work and included hands on experience across a diverse range of sites including hospitals, tube stations, pubs, museums, churches, manufacturing industry and airports. Company was registered with the NICEIC at the time of training. I consider that most subjects were covered with the exception of 11kV distribution systems. The last two years of my training involved assuming responsibility for small installation works and minor alterations. By this time I considered myself competent to install to site drawings, but with work overseen by supervising electricians most of the time.Training was supplemented with day/block release at Mid Herts College of Further Education.Upon completion of my apprenticeship I was invited to continue my training with a local electrical consultancy firm which of course I accepted.
