Exploring and Building

(Note: Everyday Robots is the name of the company that graduated/spun out of Google X in Novemeber '21)Served as the lead (and manger) of the Semantics team since 2019. Oversaw the development and deployment of numerous machine learning models for semantic scene understanding during this time, covering a wide range of applications such as detection, classification, segmentation and recently the integration of vision+language models. These approaches were deployed on both camera and lidar sensors. Was also deeply involved as the lead technical resource in our organization-wide ML fairness initiatives.In November 2022, I also took over the Low-Level Perception team. This team focuses on developing stereo algorithms along with RGB image and Lidar processing pipelines.

Stealth Google X project that became Everyday Robots.Worked across the stack in various capacities including as a technical lead, manager and individual contributor. Was actively involved in the experimentation and incubation of new technologies and served as the Semantics technical lead as well as the perception lead for HRI.Also owned several other key systems, including 3D Occupancy Estimation for Manipulation, World State Estimation, Stereo Processing, and Android SDKs.

Clover built an open, cloud-based point-of-sale platform running on custom Android hardware. I was proud to contribute substantial code (and system design) across the stack as we grew from our first transaction to tens of billions ($) processed per year.• Server (including payments) development• Android (and IOS) development• Public and Internal REST API and SDK development• Data Science• Contact for (technical) discussions and collaborations with external developers• Engaged in product decisions, prototyping, implementation and deployment on a weekly basis.• Gave talks at TechCrunch Disrupt, AnDevCon and Y­Hack(Clover was acquired by First Data Corporation in Dec 2012)
