Micky was formerly a corporate executive for several years and is now a member of Agaric, a worker-owned cooperative of web developers comprised of five people on three continents working together to build applications online. Micky is known in the web development world as FreeScholar, and is often referred to as an Activist Hacker – Industry Organizer – Public Speaker – Connector – Advisor and Visionary.Micky has been involved in web development since the late 1990's creating CustomChat Corporation as an Internet software company focused on building easy to use, yet highly customizable, conferencing software for use on the WWW. CustomChat is now offered as FREE software. She is also long-standing member of the community based around the free software project named Drupal. As a pioneer, working with Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and Drupal technology, she has created and presented VoipDrupal webinars in conjunction with the MediaLab at M.I.T.As a member of Agaric, Micky hosts monthly meetings - Boston/Cambridge Worker Cooperative Meetup - a regular show-and-tell for freedom-seeking employees, creatives, freelancers, business owners, jobless individuals, and entrepreneurs. Participants learn about, and share, work experiences applicable to working in a shared-ownership model, and members of worker cooperatives and collectives share experiences, challenges, and ways to make our businesses and our lives better. Micky has created several successful outreach campaigns to bring communities together, such as the Developer of the Minute campaign and the #freesoftwarestory campaign on the Free Software Foundation website.Her ongoing work contributes to online platforms for community use and her web development career includes the creation of diverse online communities including Cyber Weddings and Friend Finder starting as early as 1996. Micky's passion for web development is driven by: Drupal, community, FREE SOFTWARE, GNU/Linux, VOIP, and people.

As a member of MayFirst Leadership Committee, Micky has spoken at events and attended monthly meetings to determine the direction of MayFirst Movement technology. MayFirst has since transitioned to being a cooperative. One member one vote. MayFirst has always been democratically run, but now it is official! In 2019 Micky was elected to the board by the membership.

The mission of the U.S. Solidarity Economy Network is to connect a diverse array of individuals, organizations, businesses and projects in the shared work of building and strengthening regional, national and international movements for a solidarity economy. Through publications, a website, mailing list, and face-to-face gatherings, the network will facilitate: ongoing communication and dialog relating to the development of solidarity economy ideas, values and practices; the sharing of experiences, models and skills; and the creation of collaborative, movement-building projects between network members.The United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives (USFWC) is the national grassroots membership organization for worker cooperatives. Our mission is to build a thriving cooperative movement of stable, empowering jobs through worker-ownership. We advance worker-owned, -managed, and -governed workplaces through cooperative education, advocacy and development. USFWC represents over 160 business and organizational members representing over 4,000 workers across the country. We organize through local cooperative networks while building power with national and international partners to advance an agenda for economic justice rooted in community-based, shared ownership.
