About Maria Isabel Soler
My passion for science sparked in childhood as soon as I discovered 'Dexter's Laboratory' on television. In elementary school, with the first chemistry and physics classes, I understood that I wanted to be a scientist. I entered the Bachelor of Chemistry course at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) in 2015 and found my professional purpose in fact in the first scientific initiation, where I put into practice syntheses and identification of organometallic complexes through techniques such as NMR and IR. After two years in synthesis, I joined an internship in the area of biotechnology, where I exercised my knowledge in chromatographic techniques for compound separation and developed an analytical method for separating a carotenoid through high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC-UV). All my work involved the principles of green chemistry and during graduation I confirmed that the place I would like to do my work was in the research and development of sustainable products. I graduated in 2021, and for a little over a year I have been working at the Rhodia/Solvay research and development center, on the technology team supporting the Agro, Home & Personal Care, Coatings and IPS markets with a focus on sustainable surfactant chemistry.
