    In 2008 I was contracted to IMS to work on a hosting solution for Analysis Services cube databases. I designed and coded the first version of this in c# as an autonomous distributed system based on Windows Services using SOA principles.Since then the system has grown in size and is now hosting over 30,000 unique cube databases, distributed across 180 loosely coupled hosting servers (SSAS, Tabular and SQL) all managed via a single controlling server. The databases are regularly updated with new information and are deployed automatically onto the platform by the hosting system.In order to support the evolution of the system I now work as part of a globally distributed team of developers, QA, support and operations staff. The system is in its essence a multi-tenant private cloud with a comprehensive security model and is accessed by 55,000 global pharma BI users via a browser based user interface (PowerBI, SSRS, MicroStrategy against SQL relational, SSAS & Tabular). Over the last couple of years I have written a service based real-time monitoring system in c# which takes pro-active action when out of bounds events occur on any of the 230 servers that form the farm.
