About Brooks Boyd

My passion lies in the artistic world, and the marriage of computers with it. Hence, I'm drawn to projects such as web-based, experience-rich applications, as well as video and animation that stretches the mind, and emerging technologies such as Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, augmented reality and virtual experiences. Skilled Senior Software Developer with over a decade of professional experience working with multiple technology stacks (Java, PHP) to create web-based application experiences for a variety of industries. Experience working with blockchain, cryptocurrency, smart contract and other Web3-related technologies since 2015.I was born at just the right time to grow up alongside the Information Superhighway, and enter a career that didn't exist when I was young! I look forward to continuing a career of utilizing my technical computer skills and my creative insight in the same arena. I enjoy the act of creating, from design to completed release, and find joy in watching others interact with and enjoy the pieces I've had a hand in designing, developing, and maintaining.

    Along with co-founder Dr. Forrest Schultz, we designed an online scoring application for the Wisconsin Science Olympiad competition named Avogadro. After I completed development it was first used at the State-level competition in Wisconsin in 2001. The application grew and evolved; it has been used by five other states and has been used to score the National-level competition twice (with plans to host again in 2016). As Lead Developer, I continually update the software with new features based on feedback from tournament organizers, and take advantage of modern web technologies to make scoring these type of tournaments as effective as possible.
