I work on Squarespace's Website Product. - Finding the balance between sustainable product feature development and executing on long-term architectural strategy for increased growth and scalability.Some noteworthy projects- Google Domains Aquisition - Squarespace acquired and transferred 9M domains from Google Domains in 9 months. I was the lead engineer for Websites integration into the domain transfer process. - Blueprint AI Design Intelligence - this project uses AI to customize text and imagery for a new customer's website. I led the backend architecture for this project

Worked on a small team in charge of supporting the backend development for Squarespace's CMSData Storage- worked to optimize our data storage and reduce hosting costs- developed and executed a failover strategy for our asset hosting. - At the time, we were hosting assets in our own datacenters. Modified our application code so we could switch the primary cluster to either datacenter. This was complicated by the fact that syncing data between primary and secondary often took 30/60 minutes. - Shortly after completing and testing this work our primary datacenter flooded. This work allowed us to have an emergency failover with minimal customer interruption. Garbage Collection- As customers make changes to their website, delete content, there are many saved references that need to be eventually cleaned up. - Rewrote a portion of the garbage collector to use a mark and sweep, allowing us to discover and reclaim uncollectable content, freeing up both saved assets and disk space in our database

Lead a team of 4 developers in 2 week sprint cycles. The team's primary objective was to ensure our Paid Advertising and SEO products performed as smoothly and efficiently as possible. This included developing tools to efficiently create, update and maintain Advertisting Campaigns and ensure Client's websites rank high in Search and Google Places.Some of the team's highlights:- moved to a SOA architecture using zookeeper and Thrift- wrote a sync queue using Mongo that became the company standard for asynchronous work- rewrote the sync strategy that allowed most of the 2 million Campaign operations to sync in near real time- rewrote the overspend strategy to perform in real time instead of the 3+ hour wait- moved our SEO data to HBase to ensure proper data storage as the company grows

Over the years I have worked on various parts of the LimeWire Desktop Application. It saw over 12 million unique users around the world on any given day. Since 2010 I have been the lead developer on the desktop software.During this time I:- oversaw a quarterly product release cycle of the LimeWire Desktop Application leading a team of 4 developers & working closely with a research team. - worked with Product Owner, Developers & Marketing to define product goals.- ensured changes were within scope and delivered on time.- created a new Desktop Application for a new internal project. Presented a fully working, fully skinned application after a week of work.

A research lab located at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. The lab is devoted to creating technologies to help improve communication for people with speech disorders.While here I developed an interactive desktop application in Java and Swing. The game was completely controlled by a microphone and was designed to help strengthen the basic building blocks of speech for people with Dysarthria. For the game I wrote a real-time Pitch extractor in Java to process the vocal sounds of the player.I also protyped the technology behind http://www.vocalid.org. VocaliD creates custom crafted synthetic voices by combining the recipient’s residual vocal abilities with an anatomically similar voice donor’s speech database. The result is a voice that sounds like the recipient in age, personality and vocal identity but is as clear and understandable as the donor’s speech.

The lab is devoted to creating technologies to help improve communication for people with speech disorders.I worked on modifying a Text-To-Speech synthesizer that models human speech in noise. Humans naturally modify the way they speak in noisy environments, the goal was to have make the TTS synthesizer perform the same modifications.
