About Miguel Pinheiro

I graduated in Biomedical Engineering from Universidade do Minho. While undergraduate, I was part of the student's union of my degree and organized many local and national events throughout the years. As part of my Master thesis, I worked in the Hospital Hygiene Department of the Catholic University of Leuven. My research focused on optimizing new testing methods to compare disinfectants and this work lead to important changes on that hospital's policy on disinfectants and cleaning procedures and thus my master thesis was scored with 18 in 20. After returning to Portugal, I decided to complement my engineering and medical knowledge with business studies. In 2010, I was awarded a research grant to develop science marketing and in 2011 I was awarded with a PhD grant from the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT) to study R&D Cooperation Networks within the Doctoral Programme in Marketing and Strategy. I finished the first year of the PhD as best student in my class with a GPA of 18 in 20. Since then I've been developing my thesis and a few parallel projects that complement my search of intersections between business and science.On both work and everywhere else, I'm a happy person! I'm highly committed to everything I do, I love to do things perfectly and I plan ahead as much as I can. I tend to work well with both passion & pressure and I'm working on having a work passion of my own. I can work alone (PhD kind of demands it) but there's nothing like working in a team.Love to travel, photography and being a geek!
