I am a transactional attorney with considerable experience with real estate, banking, and telecommunications matters. Early in my career, I worked in the real estate departments of large law firms in downtown Dallas, TX, representing real estate developers in land acquisition and commercial construction projects. My practice has included handling the purchase and sale of property from both the lender and borrower side of the transactions. I became adept at negotiations and in drafting loan documents, purchase and sale agreements, construction contracts, and leases for retail, warehouse and office spaces. I experienced first hand the economic downturn of the late 1980's and worked with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Resolution Trust Corporation in resolving failed S&Ls and banks and in disposing of seized assets. My in-house experience has been with small and large companies engaged in heavily regulated industries such as telecom and banking. Reviewing, analyzing and reporting on how case law, statutes, regulations and oversight from state and federal agencies impact the companies has been part of my practice for many years. Because of the rapidly changing legal landscape, I have had to prepare presentations and to conduct training for business associates to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Because of my diverse experience, I have developed skills in negotiating and documenting complex business transactions in legal environments with rapidly changing laws and regulations.
