Miguel Andrade is an IT professional with a career spanning over three decades. Online since 1989, he started working and coding solutions for the pre-internet era of Bulletin Board Services (BBS). Miguel's passion for coding and programming led him to establish the first Portuguese University BBS while studying at Oporto University's engineering school.Throughout his journey, Miguel has honed his expertise in IT across diverse industries, assuming roles both as an internal IT manager and an independent consultant. Around the year 2000, he embarked on a specialization in Open Source Software, delving into its enterprise implications such as support availability, code quality, and legal aspects. Simultaneously, he recognized the social impact of Open Source Software, which prompted him to establish Neoscopio SA, a company focused on delivering Open Source Solutions.Miguel holds a degree in electrotechnical engineering with a specialization in telecommunications and computers from Engineering School. He furthered his education by obtaining an MBA/MSc from EGP (University of Porto Business School) with a research project titled "A Multi-Criteria Approach for the Design and Evaluation of Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) Services," where he concentrated on Decision Support Systems.His expertise encompasses a range of specializations, including Open Source Software, General IT, Operational Research with a focus on Decision Support Systems, Quality Management, Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, Academic teaching and Scientific research.
