Miguel Angel Tarango is a multimedia artist, documentary filmmaker, and instructor of film and art. He has shown work as a solo artist and as part of a collaborator in several groups. In 2016, he was invited to participate in a groundbreaking LatinX art show at the University of Denver’s Mhyren Gallery and gave a talk with several other artists regarding their contributions to the art show. He regularly gives talks covering his own art and film work and is an expert on the topic of multimedia art, digital art, and Pre-Columbian art. He has taught at several universities and art schools, gives museum tours, and volunteers for social justice issues. In early 2018, he finished a two year social media film project with the Redlands Bowl Performing Arts utilizing a grant from the Irvine Foundation, which can be found at guatemalanarts.org. Miguel is currently directing a series of extras and creating original music scores and electronic sound design for a new production of DVD’s that began releasing in 2019 and in 2020 completed a documentary covering his good friend and yoyo/spin top champion, Jon Gates in Iceland. He recently completed work on a documentary telling the story of a man living in a small town in Iowa that will be shown in permanent exhibition at the Belle Plaine Museum. He has been a small business owner since 2009 and teaches video production at Des Moines Area Community College.
