Where were you on November 5, 2011 -the day of the symposium called: Project Management for Organizational Excellence? The night before, and the year leading to Nov 5? Mihaela was elected as a volunteer project manager from a group of volunteers, by Mr. Rishi Kumar, the President of the PMI Lakeshore Chapter, based on an impromptu speech about why she wants to lead this event. The reason: to apply the PMI principles and guidelines in an event coordinated by our volunteers and organized for our members. The end result: after a year of planning and execution, and not without challenges, a team of only 11 volunteers (who did not know each other before) delivered a symposium attended by 250 participants. ...excellent speakers, good food, networking and, best of all, and for the first time ever, Mississauga Mayor, Hazel McCallion. The team's efforts paid off and we were able to deliver on our commitments and to deliver within the approved budget.
