Sphere of scientific interests: government financial maintenance of small businesses, innovation enterprises, non-government and non-profit organizations. Researches: state – businesses relations in finance, CAPM for transition economy, models of creditworthiness estimation, factor analysis of liquidity etc. Dr. Sorokin also took part in preparing some regulation acts for The Ministry of Economics, Verhovna Rada etc.

Dr. Sorokin taught on the MBA Finance and General Management programs. Prepared cases on Ukrainian and Foreign companies in Ukrainian market. Trainer in programs for teachers, instructors and training managers (Ukrainian School of Entrepreneurs - FMI, USA) and for innovation project managers (The Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Center) etc. Design of Executive Program for clients of Kyiv Business Incubator in cooperation with Loyola College (Baltimore, Maryland, USA). From 1998 to 2001 author and head instructor of 3-month training program on business planning for managers of innovation enterprises.

Taught at the International Finance University, and has held visiting positions at the National Academy of Management (Kyiv), where he has taught on corporate finance in various capacities since 1995. He has also developed academy curriculum, courses and training programs on finance. Supervised master dissertations on finance.

Established the finance function, prepared and submitted financial plans, budgets and analytical reports. Negotiated funding agreements with banks. Mr. Sorokin has led a financial team, recruited staff.
