The detailed modelling allows our clients to analyze their assets, their condition and their potential risks. I have been responsible for organizing and managing the group of 20 subject matter experts, organizing production work together with project management, supporting in the development of our production processes by aligning with other organizations such as PMO, Product management and software development. One of our greatest successes was building a process called “SCALA”, which enabled automated end to end road network source preparation and change detection against the TomTom database – enabling numerous types of feature updates (such as missing center line geometry, new/changed street names, route numbers, speed restrictions etc.). This process continues to be used successfully within the ECA region and lessons learned are now being integrated in the new global process that is being built from ground up using Python technology. I have extensive experience in developing data sourcing and manipulation workflows with FME software (an ETL software dominant in spatial data manipulation). As Principal GSA for the Nordic countries, my function was to research, assess and acquire any type of information for the creation and maintenance of the TomTom databases, to perform quality checks and to develop and maintain working relationships with existing and potential providers/partners. I provided support to production units in capturing map data and supported and trained other analysts on specific topics.

I advised site level partners on data sets and hardware requirements, and assisted partners with various concrete GIS tasks. Collecting and maintaining spatial databases was a major part of the work. I designed various kinds of maps and shared spatial data via different tools e.g. Google Earth to site level partners, students, and donors. I participated in research activities providing the spatial analysis component – e.g. land use analysis for the research sites. In addition to the GIS related tasks, I provided administrative and project management support to our PRESA project core team. My responsibilities as the Training Coordinator for Affecto Plc. (www.affecto.com) regarded various administrative tasks such as planning, arranging, and marketing Business intelligence (BI) and GIS training sessions for Affecto’s clients. Along with the administrative responsibilities, I also performed MapInfo Professional GIS software training.

During my studies I worked for the land parcels inventory project commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture in Finland and the European Union. My responsibilities included digitizing land parcels from orthorectified aerial photographs using MapInfo Professional GIS software and quality control.During this time I occasionally also did MapInfo Professional GIS software training.

I worked on a land cover assessment project involving study areas in Southwest Uganda. My responsibilities were to process and classify digital aerial photographs and conduct fieldwork on location in Uganda. This short attachment to ICRAF contributed significantly to my Masters Thesis, which was completed in 2006.
