At Evondos, I'm both R&D Director and Site Manager for the Evondos Oulu site, focusing on and steering of Medical Device development in the area of contactless measurements of vital signs.Opportunities and focus provided by the Vitacam business acquisition enables the team to help persons with the primary goal of supporting independent living at home!

After the Vitacam business acquisition by Evondos and full-time working there, I step down as the CTO of NE Device SW, continuing as a board member for the limited company.

Having transferred to the Microsoft to its Devices Group, I continue working as a technical lead and expert of certain technology areas, as well as leading a team of enthusiastic professionals.Working with Android software as both the technical lead, team lead as well as having the technical area ownership for regional and operator customization, FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) and SIM ATK.In this role the main responsibilities are:- Extending the Android capabilities with brand new features, fitting those into the existing Android architecture.- Making sure each market area (all continents, all major countries) legislation is followed by Nokia X android devices, as well as spicing up the UX and features with operator demands.- FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) device software E2E responsibility- Cross-organizational ownership and communications for the new added features- Following up and participating to the E2E testing with the company-wide customization and FOTA toolchains.- Leading the agile team of 8 professionals and being accountable for the timely delivery and quality testing of the related SW. Also being responsible for the performance evaluations as well as giving feedback.

Working as part of the development area management team as a lead architect, my focus was on S40 runtimes such as Java, Flash and POSIX, their APIs and API enabler frameworks and the high-level technical decisions in the corresponding areas.The Series 40 as a platform requires a mindset focused on optimizations and creating clever solutions for going around HW limitations.On the above areas my primary tasks included- High-level Architecture / system design decisions- Working as part of the Nokia Mobile Phones security incident handling virtual team (both proactive and reactive) as Runtimes representative, contributing to both software and product security issues.- Security for the runtimes - steering and outsourcing of related studies, understanding and creating new API and security related mechanisms.- Processes for creation of new APIs and related governance- Contributing to the Nokia / Mobile Phones level strategy and business decisions on the above areas including Developer experience.- External and Cross-org technical communicationsAdditionally, I have also acted as a project manager for a feature project, driving for open source sofrware utilization within POSIX based runtime to extend the mobile device capabilities for 3rd party developers.

S40 Service Architecture framework and S40 Service APIs global technical responsibility and authority. Role included- S40 Service Architecture and APIs technical training- S40 Service API defining, reviews and harmonization- Interacting with and creating architectural solutions for 3rd party companies- Defining of development and quality ensurance processes- Common (cross-platform) Qt Service framework, Context framework and Qt Mobility APIs defining as the Nokia MP representative- Common (cross-platform) JavaScript API defining as S40 representative

Responsibility for the Nokia Series 40 SW, design, implementation and initial module/unit testing for - HTTP Client protocol (RFC2616 implementation) and WAP Push (WDP and WSP) over SMS and mobile data (GPRS / UMTS), as specified by OMA (Open Mobile Alliance).- Creating architecture and system design for a proprietary API framework (S40 Service Architecture) for Series 40 devices, which enables extending the selected external developer capabilities to cover the whole software asset. I have also been involved in the actual software development as well as testing.

Technical contact point and overall responsibility for HTTP Server and Client protocol development for Series 40 platform.The time working in this role has gathered me extensive knowledge on HTTP Protocol, related IETF specs (RFC 2616 and others), knowledge of the interoperability issues between different web servers, TCP/IP protocol, SSL/TLS protocols and related certificate handling, Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) specifications, mobile bearers including packet data (GPRS) and cellular data (CSD) protocols to name a few skills.

Team leader for embedded mobile devices networking protocols development team, technologies covered were- WAP 1.x- HTTP client protocol software- HTTP Server protocol for implementation for research purposes- Presence- RTSPIn this position I also continued on development tasks for the above protocols, mainly for the HTTP Client protocol.I have also been fully trained in skills of Leadership and team management.The developed HTTP Client protocol software has been utilized in over a billion commercially sold Nokia devices in years 2004-2014 and contains full support for the HTTP Client RFC 2616, including smart utilization of several TCP sockets, byte-range implementation, Multipart content handling and so on.

Responsibility of the overall functionality, implementation and initial unit/module testing for- WAP 1.x WTP layer- HTTP Client protocol developmentIn the role I was fully responsible for keeping the schedules, contributing to prioritizing my own work in the area as part of the protocol development team.

As a design engineer I've been responsible for- developing simulated mobile data connectivity SW for use with a mobile device simulation software, having the feature ownership.- WAP 1.x / WTP layer implementation and testingDuring the time I have also participated several trainings and seminars, including e.g. CDMA 2000 seminar, GPRS training, Internet protocols advanced training covering e.g. TCP/IP, UDP/IP as well as IPv6 and related security issues.
