Current Administer $2,504,739 in annual federal and university funds to operate six college access and success initiatives that directly impact the university’s retention and graduation rates through the provision of individual, small group, and online tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, academic coaching and tracking, financial literacy, grant aid, mental health counseling, and cultural enrichment. Oversight and administrative responsibilities include the Student Success Center, Upward Bound, Talent Search, Student Support Services, the Ronald McNair Scholars program, and the Office of Freshmen Studies and the Pre-College Program. Organized annual Fall and Spring Graduate and Professional School Tours to expose participants to options for law, medical and business school, and careers in public policy. Provided mid-term and end-of-course deficiency counseling that equipped eighty-six percent (86%) of first-generation, low-income students, and participants with documented physical and learning disabilities to persist or graduate from Hampton University. Partnered with the Student Counseling Center to provide mental health services through Therapy Assistance Online, a self-paced platform of videos, mindfulness resources, and therapeutic exercises on emotional well-being, sleep hygiene, and coping with stress, anxiety, and depression. Launched Peer Mentor program to help incoming freshmen to successfully transition to the university and the surrounding community. Implemented Supplemental Instruction and online tutoring initiative to significantly reduce failure rates in Organic Chemistry, Biology, Calculus, and Physics. Transitioned to the KNACK tutorial platform to reduce operating costs and streamline assignments between Student Success Center and Student Support Services program. Organized comprehensive safety protocols training for Division of Student Affairs employees, to include annual Suicide Prevention training, CPR Training, and Safe-Zone training.
