A new company (Tower Automotive) was choosen to be supplier for body part. The main focus was to continue the development of the flows between the plants. Between Volvo factories we mostly used rail transport. Together with Volvo Logistics did we change the whole railway system so that the trains are faster from the starting point to the final destination. This train system won the 2005 EU price called "the best intermodal solution" from European Intermodal Association, IEA. We added also a new logistics project called "supply chain efficiency". This project was also a combined project between Volvo Cars Olofstrom, Volvo Cars Gent and Volvo Cars Torslanda Gothenburg. This project was bigger than the other so here we worked in cross-functional teams. The goal was to change the boarders of responsibility of the entire logistics system between the factories; by this could we achieve savings. Instead of responsibility with Volvo PV Olofstrom as supplier and the other as customers we changed so that Volvo PV Olofstrom took over the responsibility for the flow right up to the point of customer consumption.
