Huawei is a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company headquartered in Shenzhen, China. Huawei has about 170 000 employees of which almost half are engaged in research and development. Huawei established its first European R&D center in Stockholm, Sweden around 2000 and today has about 600 employees in Stockholm (Kista), Göteborg and Lund.

In the autumn of 2011 I moved from diplomacy to international consulting, founding Sweden Asia Consulting AB. Through this company I provide advice to corporate and other clients, make presentations to corporate and other audiences, etc.

Kreab Gavin Anderson is a world leading communications consultancy with over 350 experienced consultants of 40 nationalities in 26 countries. It specializes in financial, corporate and public affairs communications, providing strategic advice to more than 750 clients worldwide. It has offices in inter alia Beijing, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

These were very dynamic years - for China and for the Sweden-China relationship. Some highlights were preparing and supporting a successful visit by the Swedish prime minister, the first in twelve years (2007), doing the same for the first state visit ever by a Chinese head of State to Sweden (2008) and by now President Xi Jinping to Sweden in 2010. The Olympic Games and the World Exhibition were other major events. Trade relations flourished and we initiated major projects in the area of environmental technology (such as supporting the planning of a new eco-city Caofeidian in Tangshan).
