In my role with the City of Bozeman, I conduct land development review, and provide oversight, regulation, and coordination for private and capital infrastructure planning, review, and inspection. I collaborate with a dynamic municipal team and engage with numerous local and regional planning, architectural, engineering, and contracting groups throughout all phases of development—from preliminary subdivision and infrastructure planning to construction and site occupancy.

In my role with the City of Great Falls, I served as a municipal engineering project manager and design engineer, focusing on the design, construction, and rehabilitation of sewer, stormwater, and water treatment systems. I collaborated closely with local consultants on various projects, including moderate-scale trail systems, grant proposals, stormwater basin planning and upgrades, water distribution, and building renovations. I successfully secured funding, managed grants, and developed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan in partnership with local stakeholders, the City Commission, and the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT).

I thoroughly enjoyed working and collaborating with this team in and around Portland, OR. As a project engineer, I gained invaluable construction experience. This group is fully committed to their work, and working relationships, and I benefited from extensive mentorship and coaching throughout my involvement as both an intern and project engineer on various large and small-scale renovation projects in Portland’s urban corridors. The foundational knowledge in business development and construction practices that I acquired from this team has been instrumental as I continue my pursuit of licensing in civil engineering design and project management. I am truly grateful for this exceptional team of "builder businessmen."

Great Falls, Montana Area

My internship with the City of Great Falls Engineering Department took place during the summer of 2014 and continued intermittently throughout my academic terms.A key focus of my internship was working on several municipal storm drain projects. For one project, I managed the surveying, design, and contractual processes for a 350-foot storm drain installation, which included four inlets. In another initiative, I defined, investigated, and modeled a municipal watershed experiencing surcharge issues, presenting my findings to senior engineers to identify the best solutions based on the existing infrastructure.Alongside my storm drain work, I contributed to the preparation and design proposals for three different grants. This involved weekly collaboration with our office, local organizations, and the city’s planning and parks and recreation departments. Two of these grant proposals were ultimately successful.The most valuable aspect of my internship was the opportunity to work with a diverse and engaging group of professionals. Interactions with engineers, city officials, inspectors, contractors, and citizens provided me with broad exposure to a variety of projects.My time spent with inspectors, surveying on-site, and working in the office helped me appreciate the differences between theoretical designs and real-world applications.Overall, my internship with the City of Great Falls Engineering Department allowed me to explore a wide range of engineering and construction projects. Coordinating engineering efforts for a community provided many opportunities to approach problems with the support and input of many perspectives and I'm blessed to have experienced early on in my career the patience, and power, of a collective approach.
