As a senior associate in K&S's patent litigation group, I have gained a broad experiential background in intellectual property, including: patent and antitrust litigation in federal court and before the PTAB; competitor v. competitor defense, patent troll defense, and plaintiff-side infringement claims; trade secret litigation; antitrust litigation; IP contract disputes; and portfolio counseling, including freedom-to-operate analysis and due diligence at the product development stage. I manage day-to-day litigation tasks, including conducting team meetings, corresponding with opposing counsel, and advising clients of case strategy. I regularly draft discovery requests and responses, expert reports of invalidity and non-infringement, motions for summary judgment, and pre-trial motions. I depose fact and technical witnesses regarding a variety of intellectual property, including: computer software, hardware, and designs; aerial drone products; wireless entertainment systems; medical devices; and industrial drilling tools.

As an associate in Cooley's patent litigation group, I gained advanced legal writing skills litigating patent and trade secret claims and preparing complaints, answers, procedural motions, discovery responses and inquiries, claim construction briefing, expert reports, and motions for summary judgment. I used my technical background to conduct prior art searches, analyze validity, and prepare petitions for inter partes and covered business method patent review by the PTAB.

Worked with a team to develop and manage a schedule of informative panels and presentations for law students, focusing on a variety of educational, diversity, and professional development topics. Fostered relationships with and recruited employers/alumni to participate in panels and presentations.

Researched and drafted legal memorandum for the patent litigation group. Conducted a pro-bono client interview in preparation for an Application to Adjust Status of a U-Visa. Participated in a deposition workshop, as well as multiple pro-bono low-income housing clinics.

Reviewed party briefs and performed extensive research of applicable law. Reported findings and recommendations to the supervising clerk and/or Honorable Paul S. Grewal. Provided draft court orders to serve as bench memos.

Conducted legal research and wrote memorandum covering a variety of topics, including patent, trademark, and employment issues. Drafted patent and trademark assignment agreements, as well as supplemental teleworking employment agreements. Drafted an office action response with the assistance of a senior associate.

Worked in mathematical epidemiology, modeling effects of Rift Valley Fever Virus with the purpose of educating a community about the risks of building a disease research center. Used complex mathematical models to represent and understand the biological vectors involved. Presented a scientific paper at a University Research Forum detailing the effects and possible future considerations.

Aided in the reconstruction of a telescope for the Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS). Received instruction in advanced astrophysics, electronics, and computer modeling. Assisted in disassembly and reconstruction of the telescope's communications circuit system.
