About Mikael Dalecki
My engineering career started at MacGregor in Gothenburg where I was working alongside my master studies at Chalmers University of Technology. In the role as a calculation engineer, I performed strength analyses of steel structures such as slewing ramps, car decks onboard ships and roll on roll off ramps onshore. I was also given the opportunity to perform my master thesis within MacGregor comparing the company’s calculations approaches when designing bow doors and visors. During my master thesis, I got in touch with DNV GL who offered me a position as a structural approval engineer in their conversion section in Høvik, Norway. The job focused on ship steel structures and ranged from simple winch and crane foundations to ship extensions and moonpool rebuilds. I was later offered a position in Oil and Gas and the Riser Technology section where I started with mooring analyses but later found my way to steel risers on jackets, which became my main field of responsibility. I became the go to person within the company resulting in a 3-month expat trip to Houston where I was given the opportunity to share my knowledge. In 2014 I was recruited by 4subsea in Hvalstad, Norway to work in the Flexible Pipe Technology department. My work responsibilities stretched from global dynamic riser analyses to base and offshore work. The field work was most often in connection with analysis projects, where I followed up the progress and/or performed tests.The large drop in oil price (from $120/barrel to below 30$/barrel) in 2015 forced the offshore industry in Norway to downsize drastically and new project became sparse. I utilized my knowledge from the shipping and offshore industry, within sales at EDRMedeso in Sandivka, Norway.After a separation, I decided to leave Norway and return to Gothenburg, Sweden. I took the opportunity to change industry and started at my current position within Vehicle Certification & Compliance at Volvo Group Truck Technology. I am often described as a reliable, thorough and customer oriented employee that enjoys helping people and get things done.
