Sensotrend makes life with diabetes easier. We combine data from medical devices and wellness trackers and derive actionable insights from the data, helping people with diabetes understand how different factors affect their glucose levels and how to dose insulin accordingly.

I advocate for interoperability in healthcare IT systems, and specifically use of HL7 standards. I participate actively to the development of the Finnish PHR platform, and in various work groups in HL7 Finland.

For me, a big initiative in healthcare interoperability is the HL7 International Patient Access specification. The aim is to advance patient access to health data, through apps, in an internationally harmonized way.

On Nordic level, I participate to monthly Nordics on FHIR calls, advancing harmonized use and profiling of the HL7 FHIR standard in the Nordics. The most prominent initiatives there are potential cross-border use of terminology servers, and the use of the International Patient Access specification for making health data available in a structured format for digital health apps.I’m also participating to Nordic Interoperability Project’s initiative for a Nordic Digital Health Platform. My main interests there are the integration of apps into healthcare IT systems, and future business models for and possible reimbursement of digital health apps.

One of my main priorities as the FHIR Ambassador of HL7 Finland was to lead a joint integration project, where a dozen apps were integrated with a dozen platform using the HL7 FHIR standard. The integrations were built by participants with no external funding and we demonstrated that with the FHIR standard, integrations are not your traditional integration projects, rather more like installing apps to your mobile phone.

Sailab - MedTech Finland is a trade association representing medical technology companies in Finland. I'm the vice chairman of the unit concentrated on diabetes care. This is unpaid voluntary work.

I'm the contact person of the regional network of diabetes associations. The network was founded to support Finland's reform of social and healthcare services (which is still under way). We have been successful in increasing equality in access to services and supplies, by collecting data of how services are provided in all municipalities in the region, and making that data visible to decision makers.

In addition to Sensotrend, I worked part-time at Vincit, the best SME working place in Europe.I implemented both back-end and front-end code mainly on React and Firebase stacks. I was the team lead in all of the projects I participated in.I also consulted ODA project (origins of Omaolo.fi) on integrations to third party systems.

I worked as a hired gun for Elisa, developing the Elisa Viihde service.I worked as the technical project owner for a new product, extending the Elisa Viihde services to other operators' networks using OTT technologies. Reached product launch in record time for Elisa's organization.

My responsibilities involved sales and technical sales support. I also continued to work in the role of Software Development Manager and as a Project Manager for challenging projects.

I led a team of 12 programmers involved in products and projects for embedded software, interactive TV, and mobile TV. I managed the development of processes for service launch, product life-cycle management, testing, and QA.I also participated in the development of the DVB-MHP specifications and of Java Specification Requests (JSRs), and to standardization work in several industry fora, and led a specification profiling task force.Additionally, I gave consultation and training, and wrote publications related to interactive TV services, and managed important projects and products for the company.

I managed the development and marketing of several of the key products of the company.The work included requirements gathering, roadmapping, prioritizing product features, and crafting marketing material.

I was responsible for several international projects for network operators, broadcasters, middleware vendors, and content providers. I successfully managed multiple projects simultaneously, many projects involving several partners and stake-holders.

Specified the "National User Interface" in Finland; i.e., the EPG and the Digital Teletext services used by the biggest broadcasters.Participated to MHP Interoperability Workshops.Developed numerous interactive applications for digital TV platforms.

Designed and implemented intranet, extranet, and web services for customers, enabling digital workflow.Insourced network infrastructure administration, saving the company 40% of its yearly IT costs.Administrated the transition from Novell Netware to SMB network infrastructure.
