The work included:• improve the agency´s ability to monitor and analyse causes and consequences of national and international energy disturbances, • analyse risks and threats in the Swedish energy system, • propose policies, strategic measures and amendments to national regulations, • support preventive work carried out by local and regional organisations such as municipalities and energy companies, • disseminate information on how consumers can prevent and mitigate consequences of energy supply interruptions or failures, • manage contracted consultants, • cooperate with other governmental authorities and organisations in Sweden and Europe. The agency plays an important role in organising the Swedish preparedness for handling energy shortages. Member of the Swedish National Emergency Sharing Organisation (part of the IEA emergency response system to mitigate effects of international short-term oil supply disruptions). Project manager in preparing the agency to operate • the National Programme for Improving Energy Efficiency in Swedish Energy Intensive-Industries (PFE), resulting in electricity savings of 1 TWh per year (part time 2004) and • the Sustainable Municipality Programme.
