I'm a software engineer that has enjoyed programming for most of my life.I play with C and Lisp in my free time, but at work I'm likely to reach for C++, Rust, and Python.I'm curious; I enjoy both learning and teaching. I read the manuals for my tools to understand what they're capable of. I facilitate bookclubs, even on topics I don't know about yet. In a technical discussion, I might casually mention that a solution seems similar to a monad pattern, or how something like Common Lisp's conditions and restarts would make error recovery more pleasant.I find myself to be an advocate for improving quality and maintaining a high quality. It's not just code quality I'm interested in: I think release processes ought to be near-instant, documentation updates should be part of the same review as code changes, developers should be empowered to fix the problems they encounter, and developer's tools need to be quick, effective, and well-understood.
