In turn, this then became the cornerstone of the development of Deloitte’s whole-firm Sustainability & Climate capability. I built a Regions partner and director team that delivered enhanced market focus and success, leading to partner numbers doubling during my tenure. During my tenure I developed and executed a strategy that built a fantastic team and tripled our size to circa 130 fee earners.Deloitte LLP – Risk Advisory – Internal Audit & Risk, Partner 2008-2018As a new partner I build teams and skills focused on Risk, Governance, Controls and Assurance including internal audit. I acted as the outsourced head of internal audit for a number of scale businesses, delivered large controls programmes and advised clients on establishing pragmatic, good practice risk practices across financial, operational, technology and health and safety risk domains.

Deloitte LLP, Audit, Manager – Director 1999-2007Based in London, the majority of my time was spent on the audits of FTSE100 clients, dealing with the complexity that arose from multi-geography operations, scale M&A and separation transactions, the implementation of IFRS, transition of auditor etc. My projects involved extensive international travel and working with cross border teams dispersed across 50+ countries.

I was appointed a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of RNIB in 2014, becoming Audit & Risk Committee Chair in 2019 with responsibility for a major component of the charity's governance agenda.Developed strong relationships with the new Chair, new CEO, CFO and other stakeholders, instigating significant improvements including the recruitment of a new head of Risk, development of an annual forward agenda, and improvement of mechanisms for briefing non-Trustee members. I oversaw the retendering of the external audit, the investment advisor, and internal audit functions and formalised the Committee evaluation processes. Over my involvement, we made material improvements in the quality and consistency of governance processes, significantly elevating the risk agenda with senior management and Trustees while supporting the major change programme instigated by the Chair and CEO.

Over a three year period I worked as part of a global group of leaders in sustainability drawn from professional services, academia and global institutions to draft and publish a set of recommended Carbon related financial disclosures. This work went on to become a key input to the Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures and the globally adopted standard now mandated by regulators across the world.
