Quality Assurance And Release Manager
At Absorb, I was responsible for the quality of our SaaS product from inception to release and beyond. In my time there, I successfully introduced scrum and agile software management to the development organization, leading to higher quality code and deliverables. Furthering this, I was a key part of a transition to a scaled agile format as the team has increased in size and the product in complexity.I redefined the quality practice by installing rigour and process to test, while allowing human interactions via exploratory efforts. I did this by continuously advocating a quality mind set in our development team, adding just the right amount of tooling and process, and aligning the organization on a quality path.I created an automation process that has allowed all members of the QA and Development teams to actively engage and participate in. Using Selenium, and later Cypress along with other tools such as postman, blazemeter, etc., we are able to accurately fund and eliminate issues before release. My second role at Absorb was the hands-on Release Manager for all production changes. This included:Creation and evolution of:o Major release processes, from inception to production o Standardizing and maintaining minor (patch) releaseso Coordination of hotfixes - including discovery of issues and analysis of impacto Incident retrospective process - an analysis of issues discovered in production• Providing release/change information to client and sales facing teams in the organization• Provision of historical documentation of each release
Test Development Manager
As a hands on Manager of Test Development at Nureva, I was responsible for the software quality of the Nureva Span and HDL300 projects. Along with my team of 4 QA Analysts, I ensured we delivered outstanding software solutions. In my time at Nureva, I introduced many new processes:- Formal exploratory testing- Focused and repeatable regression testingI also streamlined development and test practices by championing integrated tools (like Jira and test case repositories). There were also been strides towards better Agile methodologies in order to better our effort, but also to increase our capacity. While at Nureva I was:• Testing multiple projects at different stages in their development• Setting standards for team optimization• Fostering creativity while maintaining the discipline necessary to help deliver quality products in a timely manner• Being agile and adapt to a rapid growing organization• Advising in best practices• Adhering to QA test protocols and process making sure any concerns are addressed immediately• Managing test plans, test cases and test scripts, along with reports for multiple projects• Designing, documenting and developing new processes to increase efficiency• Actively contributing to managing and leading my team• Becoming a subject matter expert on all areas of system functionality
Qa Lead
At Critical Mass, I was responsible for the Quality Assurance for the largest of their clients. This work entailed weekly releases that included between 3-6 projects at any given time. With a release cycle this rapid, there needed to be a solid framework of process and methodology to achieve success. During my time with CM, I brought a significant amount of these items to fruition. I also facilitated a comprehensive review of all testing practices in order to alter, change, or eliminate processes that were either inadequate or misdirected. All of this increased the accountability of the QA department. I also undertook a change to the Automation system – where the old system was fragile, unreliable, and very difficult to maintain -the new system brought in Data storage, re-usable and manageable test cases, and well thought-out architecture. As the QA Lead for the Critical Mass QA team, I was responsible for:• Coordinating with the off-shore QA team (10 analysts) to create test weekly releases• Creating estimates for various projects that range from 40 up to 300 hours of QA time• QA planning and release criteria• Updating or creating QA processes to add the 4 key elements to success for QA: o Effective communication o Accountability o Reproducibilityo Continual Learning
