Mike launched his career in Engineering with an apprenticeship as a Tool, jig and die maker and with this sound hands on and practical foundation started studying to become a product development engineer developing HVAC systems for the Motor industry at Smiths Industries. From there Mike accepted a position at Denel Aviation as a stress Engineer ensuring structural integrity of airframes where he spent a further 4 years. After which started his own Engineering business in the Western Cape operating in the construction industry manufacturing small fabrications and precision machining.After 3 years he was asked to return to the Denel fold as a consulting Logistics Engineer where he spent the next 15 years working his way up to the Chief Operating Officer of the Aircraft maintenance business unit with a budget of R200m per year.When he left Denel he was offered a position as the Operations manager for a manufacturing company, Booyco Engineering in charge of the Supply chain, Production, Quality, Planning and the Field Service departments.Mike is currently an independent Engineering Management and Quality consultant to the Steel manufacturing and Construction industries having been contracted to Kusile power station and Prasa rail manufacturing projects. Mike is an energetic, stable person that is able to handle high stress situations.
