About Mike Bourassa Phd

With a passion for research, data mining and artificial intelligence, I am a self-motivated, persevering data scientist and programmer comfortable with demanding business requirements. I am seeking engaging research and development opportunities both within Canada and abroad.My ultimate research ambition is to be part of the leadership and development team implementing a data exploration system that would be a proactive "assistant", able to fully or semi-autonomously provide a user with insight and guidance in the exploration of data.The focus of my PhD in Computer Science centered on data mining, artificial intelligence and machine learning with a thesis that proposed a novel means of conveying the significance of new data records to an analyst. This work would find practical application in the automated detection and handling of outliers in intelligence, security, and biomedical research.A Licenced Professional Engineer, the majority of my career was as a Combat Systems Engineer and Scientist with the Royal Canadian Navy. With a wide experience portfolio spanning a variety of leadership, project management, research, and teaching roles, I was most recently part of the creation of a multi-platform application focused on communications and data transfer for remote healthcare services in private industry.
