With over 25 years in the Electrical Distribution Design field (split between utility and utility contractor), I've been blessed to have seen the industry from both sides. Having spent 7 years with Southern California Edison as a Planner and Planning Supervisor, managing 3 different districts, I was able to work closely with major industrial, commercial and residential customers as well as coordinate with large government agencies. My tenure at SCE took me from the high volume growth of the Inland Empire in the early 2000's to the complex political relationships of managing the electrical needs of Catalina Island, Newport and Huntington Beach. I then moved on to PAR Electrical Contractors, Inc and Quanta Utility Engineering Services where I was able to design large distribution jobs for SCE. Later, I was promoted to New Contracts Manager where I secured contracts and designed distribution systems with utilities and private firms across the West including Chevron, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Xcel Energy Colorado, and SunPower. But the big break came when we secured a contract with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) where I grew a team of 5 into more than 80 designers, engineers, and analysts in 3 different offices across California in just 4 years. To further my knowledge of the industry, I've spent the last two years in Electric Distribution Managed Services and Staffing as well as a stint in Quality Control/Assurance as the Director of Engineering Services for CPI completing Quality Control and Assurance for PG&E's distribution design work.The Electrical Distribution industry has been an unexpected career direction from my college studies, but a most satisfying one. Designing extensive distribution projects as well as helping bright young minds develop into successful distribution engineers is what I look forward to every day.
