I am an Illegal Wildlife Trade Consultant | Law Enforcement Expert based in Lao PDR.With over four decades of dedicated service to wildlife conservation and law enforcement, I am a seasoned professional committed to combatting the illegal wildlife trade. My career has taken me across various continents, providing me with unique insights and experiences in the field.Professional Experience: I have spent over twenty-five years working in zoological gardens, captive breeding and conservation projects in the UK, Australia, Canada, Sarawak and Lao PDR I bring extensive law enforcement experience to the table, including nine years as a front-line police officer in Australia, where I served in both metropolitan and rural districts, including criminal investigation units. My consultancy work involves strategic planning, capacity building, and risk analysis for wildlife trafficking.Key Achievements:• Led a mobile ranger teams in the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary (Cambodia), effectively controlling logging, poaching, land clearing, and saffrol oil production.• Supervised provincial rangers in snare removal projects in the Nam Khan National Protected Area, Bokeo province (Lao PDR).• Developed and delivered numerous training activities to Lao WEN• Served as a Technical Adviser to the WCS Law Enforcement Assistance team in Vietnam.• Served as a Technical Adviser to the WCS wildlife trafficking team in Lao PDR.• Served as a technical adviser to the Lao Department of Customs, the Department of Forest Inspections and Lao Wildlife Enforcement Network in combating illegal wildlife trade in Lao PDR.• Contributed significantly to the auditing of tiger farms in Lao PDR.• Provided support to the government of Lao PDR on the identification and authenticity of wildlife products and CITES permits.• Conducted risk analysis for wildlife trafficking that includes key international border checkpoints, including the Lao-China Railway.
